The story
The sequel to Little White Lies ("Les petits mouchoirs"), set 7 years later. The group of friends, which had separated, reunites for the surprise birthday party organized for Max.
What it’s like
Warm, sun-bleached summer light over a seaside house, with long unhurried group scenes in shared kitchens, terraces and dinner tables, where friends talk over one another and the camera lingers on faces rather than cutting fast. The mood is bittersweet ensemble comedy with a heavier undertow: nostalgia for a friendship that drifted apart, the small awkwardnesses of reunion, and money worries that surface between jokes. A late sea rescue and a character's suicide attempt bring real fear and grief into the otherwise easy rhythm, and these moments land hard before the film returns to its softer register. Intensity is moderate: no graphic violence, but emotional distress, a frightening water sequence, and sustained sadness. It suits a slow weekend afternoon, a rewatch with people you've known for years, or a late evening when you want warmth with some ache in it. It is for viewers who enjoy French ensemble dramedies about middle-aged friendship, ageing, and the things left unsaid between people who once shared everything.
