The story

A timid and socially alienated 17-year-old high school student's life is turned upside down when she switches places with her sinister mirror image.

What it’s like

Mirrors, doubles and a slow-building sense of wrongness carry this film, with its atmosphere built on unease more than spectacle. The mood is isolated and anxious, a teenager's loneliness curdling into something colder as the reflection takes on a life of its own. Expect tense, claustrophobic scenes in ordinary settings like school corridors, bedrooms and bathroom mirrors, where small looks and pauses carry more weight than jump-scare set pieces. The pacing is steady rather than frantic, letting the discomfort accumulate. The emotional register runs from awkward sympathy for a shy outsider to a thriller's growing paranoia, and the arc follows a lonely girl whose need for belonging turns dangerous. Intensity sits in the psychological and horror range: there is fear and some violence, but it is not gentle and is not gore-driven, and its cruelty lands through social humiliation and menace. It suits a late-night, lights-low viewing, and it is for people who enjoy uncanny doppelgänger stories, teen-angst dread and thrillers about identity splitting apart, rather than for anyone wanting something soothing.
