The story

When a group of friends discover how to conjure spirits using an embalmed hand, they become hooked on the new thrill, until one of them goes too far and unleashes terrifying supernatural forces.

What it’s like

Dim suburban interiors lit by a single lamp, phone screens throwing cold blue on faces, and the hard white flash of a hand-held camera jolting through teenage parties, all of it shot with a restless, close-in handheld intimacy that keeps you pressed against the characters. The sound design is where the dread lives: sudden silence, a raw bass drone, and a rising hum that feels like pressure in the ears. Its vibe is feverish, grief-soaked dread, the kind that builds through rooms that should feel safe. It suits a late night alone with the lights off, though it is not a comfort watch. Pacing is fast and escalating, with the emotional arc of a young woman using a dangerous thrill to chase a connection with her lost mother and then having to face what that costs. The intensity is high: strong, graphic self-harm and bodily injury, a suicide, sustained possession horror with screaming and frightening imagery, drug and addiction themes, and some sexual content. The impact is shocking and raw rather than gory for its own sake. It is for viewers who want fear grounded in grief and fractured friendship, and who can handle a film that stays painfully close to its characters' damage.
