The story

A mother and daughter encounter a demon in a village where girls have been disappearing.

What it’s like

Dusk-blue village lanes, dim interiors lit by oil lamps and doorways, and the hush of fields at night build a slow, rural dread. Expect a folk-horror register: jump scares and a supernatural presence that pulls at the edges of ordinary domestic life, with a score that leans on low drones and sudden stings rather than melody. The pace is steady, held up by the bond between a mother and daughter as they confront something that has been taking girls from their community. It is an intense watch with frightening imagery and some violence, though the dread does most of the work over gore. The emotional core is fierce, protective love, and the film's feminist undercurrent gives its fear a clear purpose. It suits a dark evening with the lights low, for viewers who want supernatural horror with a strong female lead, a sense of place, and a story where maternal courage is central.
