The story

Satyaveer is an engineer suspended for allegedly accepting a bribe. However, Satyaveer, proud author of a tawdry and thoroughly unsuccessful crime novel, is approached by a woman named Manorama to investigate her husband, whom she suspects of having an affair.

What it’s like

Sun-bleached Delhi streets, dusty cars, and cramped interiors lit by tube lights and tired afternoon glare give this one a grubby, lived-in look, with a handheld, restless camera that stays close to its people as they wander into trouble. The sound leans on bouncy Hindi pop and jaunty percussion that undercuts the mounting unease, and the editing has a playful, sometimes cheeky snap. The vibe is wry noir with a comic edge: a bit shabby, a bit absurd, and often funny about its own pretensions. Pacing is brisk and twisty, with the story's threads tightening as the characters' self-regard gets punctured, and the emotional register stays light even as the stakes climb. The central arc follows a deflated, self-important man stumbling into a case he is unqualified to solve, and slowly learning humility along the way. Violence is present and sometimes abrupt, but it is brief and mostly unshowy, and the sexual content is suggestive rather than explicit. It suits a late-night watch with friends or a curious rainy evening, and it is for viewers who enjoy genre mysteries that don't take themselves too seriously.
