The story
#Race to the altar: Maxie, Darcy and Polly are The Husband Hunters. *The terms of the will*: the late Nancy Leeward has left each of her three god-daughters a share of her estate if they marry within a year and remain married for six months.... *The hunter*: 22 year old Maxie Kendall, who, because of her father's compulsive gambling, is faced with a debt she can't settle. Nancy's bequest could be the answer to her prayers.... *The husband*: 33 year old Greek tycoon Angelos Petronides has waited three long years to bed Maxie. He mistakenly assumes that she once was another man's mistress, and now she's in need of a new sugar-daddy. Only Angelos finds he has to offer more than money to make Maxie his. ***The Husband Hunters #1***
What it’s like
Glossy, quick-moving prose with the polished sheen of late-nineties Harlequin Presents: luxury villas, sun-warmed Greek settings, and expensive cars sketched in brisk, confident strokes. The voice is breezy and dramatic, leaning on sharp exchanges, flaring tempers and charged silences more than lingering description. It suits a lazy afternoon by the pool, a holiday read, or a comfort-reading binge when you want escapism with a clear emotional throughline. The tone is melodramatic and warm, with steadily building sexual tension between a wealthy, domineering man and a proud young woman who resents needing his help, and the arc moves from mutual misjudgement toward tenderness. Intensity is low to moderate: sensual, sometimes steamy scenes that stop short of graphic detail, plus bitter misunderstandings and emotional sparring, but no violence or gore. Best for readers who want a feel-good, heavily romantic escape, a fast page-turner with a happy ending, and who enjoy stories built on money, pride and a love that arrives through conflict.
