The story

An intuitive young neurosurgeon discovers that she is the unlikely heir to a family of witches. As she grapples with her newfound powers, she must contend with a sinister presence that has haunted her family for generations.

What it’s like

Cool, muted palettes of slate blue, bruised violet and dusty gold dominate, with New Orleans shot in humid, overcast daylight and candlelit interiors that gather shadow around the edges of the frame. Camera work is often unhurried, with slow pushes through old houses, reflections in windows and mirrors, and close, quiet framing on faces during tense exchanges, while the score leans on low strings and sustained drones that swell under uncanny moments and then fall back to hush. The mood is brooding and gothic yet intimate, a slow-burn supernatural drama with an undercurrent of grief and inheritance, more atmosphere than jump scares. Its pace is measured, with episodes that linger in family rooms and hospital corridors as much as in séances and rituals. Intensity is moderate: supernatural dread, eerie apparitions, some bloody medical imagery and occasional brief violence, but no graphic gore and little explicit sexual content. It suits a rainy evening, a late-night watch alone, or viewers who want moody, character-led witchcraft with a dark family mystery and a serious emotional core.
