The story

Ethan Hunt and his IMF team embark on their most dangerous mission yet: To track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity before it falls into the wrong hands. With control of the future and the world's fate at stake and dark forces from Ethan's past closing in, a deadly race around the globe begins. Confronted by a mysterious, all-powerful enemy, Ethan must consider that nothing can matter more than his mission—not even the lives of those he cares about most.

What it’s like

Big, glossy studio spectacle shot for sheer scale: sweeping aerial vistas of Italian hillsides and Alpine passes, sun-bleached Rome streets and dim interiors lit by warm practical lamps, with the image often crisp and digital but given a physical heft by real locations and stunt work that the camera holds on in wide, unbroken takes. The score swells with brassy urgency and pulses under chase sequences, while quieter passages let the wind, engines and footsteps carry the tension. Vibe: sleek, propulsive, high-stakes escapism with a faint sense of dread running underneath. Pacing is relentless in its middle stretches, with long set pieces that build a race-against-time momentum, then brief pauses for banter and character weight. Intensity is high: frequent action violence, gunfire, crashes and falls, a few tense hand-to-hand fights, some peril and emotional betrayal, but little gore and no sexual content. The emotional register is earnest and loyal, centring a lone agent who must weigh his team against his mission. Best for viewers who want a big, loud night out on the sofa, or a stylish thriller to watch with friends, rather than anything gentle or quiet.
