The story

Two mob families clash in a war that threatens to topple empires and lives.

What it’s like

Cold London grey and rain-slick streets, interiors lit by low tungsten lamps and the flat blue of phone screens, with a palette of wet charcoal, bruised navy and sodden brick. The camera is mostly steady and patient, lingering on faces across a table or a car's front seat, with the occasional sudden handheld lurch when violence breaks out. The score is sparse and brooding, with low drones and long pauses that let tension hang before a door opens. The vibe is grimly stylish and tense, a slow-burn dread shot through with flashes of brutality. Violence is frequent and often sharp and sudden, including murder and beatings, with gore shown more by aftermath than spectacle; there is drug-related menace and a steady undercurrent of threat, though little sexual content. Pacing is deliberate and layered, arcs follow loyalty corroding under pressure, and people who prize a poised ensemble of crime-family power plays, a fixer's double-dealing and the cost of dynastic loyalty will find the most here.
