The story

In a suburban community, moms and dads, one after the other, mysteriously feel the irresistible impulse to attack and kill their own offspring.

What it’s like

Harsh suburban daylight and flat, bleached interiors give way to lurid, saturated flashes: fluorescent kitchens, sun-washed driveways, cheap-looking neon-pink and red accents that feel almost cartoonish. The camera is restless and frantic, with handheld swoops, sudden zooms and whip pans that keep a sense of panic in the frame, and the score is a jolting mix of pop cues and aggressive electronic stabs that lurches between cheeky and menacing. Its vibe is manic, sour and darkly absurd, the kind of late-night, don't-think-too-hard watch that suits a loud, feverish mood rather than anything quiet or cosy. Pacing is relentless and the tone swings from slapstick to genuinely grim, with the parents' unravelling marriage and strained bond with their teenagers at the centre. Violence is frequent, graphic and bloody, with gore, cruelty toward children, and scenes of frightening chaos; there is also crude language and dark sexual undertones. It is not gentle, and it lands as shock and bleak humour. Made for viewers who enjoy horror-comedy extremes, black farce and visceral, provocative genre filmmaking.
