The story

In a high-tech future, a rogue security robot secretly gains free will. To stay hidden, it reluctantly joins a new mission protecting scientists on a dangerous planet... even though it just wants to binge soap operas.

What it’s like

Flat, sun-washed corporate interiors and rugged alien landscapes under pale, hazy skies give this series a clean, slightly washed-out sci-fi look, with bright lab whites, muted field greens and rust-coloured dust, and a bit of glossy digital polish. The sound is light and wry: synth pads and understated electronic textures that drop out for dry pauses, plus the constant ticking of a clever mind narrating itself. Its vibe is deadpan, cheerful and quietly anxious, a comedy thriller where the tension is low-key and the laughs come from an unimpressed protagonist who would rather be watching television. Pacing is brisk within episodes, with comic beats landing between tense stretches and no long, dragging silences. The emotional register stays warm and funny even when the stakes turn bleak, and the central arc follows a reluctant, guarded being slowly learning to trust the humans around it. Violence is present and occasionally sharp, with some action, gunfire and bloody injuries, though it stays mostly brief and not graphic; there is mild swearing and some dark situations, but no sexual content. It suits a lazy weekend binge, a comfort watch with a dry sense of humour, or a rainy evening for fans of wry, self-aware science fiction who enjoy a sardonic lead.
