The story
Interim sheriff Ulysses, called to the snowbound town of Normal, MN, uncovers an international criminal conspiracy at the heart of the seemingly quaint whistle-stop when he comes to the aid of a bank-robbing couple caught up in a deadly mess.
What it’s like
Snowbound winter light over a quiet Minnesota town sets the mood: white streets, a hush of nothing much happening, and a calm that feels like it is hiding something. The temperature is cold and tense, a crime-thriller atmosphere in which the sleepy setting heightens the sense that a hidden plot is closing in. The pacing leans toward action, with escalating stakes and quick, forceful turns rather than slow, meditative stretches. The emotional register is suspenseful rather than tender, and the people are pulled into a messy, dangerous situation and pushed to make fast decisions under pressure. Intensity looks moderate to high: expect action-driven violence and threat, shaped by the fallout of a bank robbery. How graphic it gets is not something this description can confirm. It suits viewers who want a tense, action-forward winter crime story with a quirky small-town backdrop, and it is less suited to anyone looking for something gentle or low-stakes.
