The story

While working as a taxi driver on the hectic streets of Tokyo, a reticent walrus gets pulled into a mystery involving a missing teenage girl.

What it’s like

Muted, late-night Tokyo rendered in flat, slightly soft anime linework, with the city's streets washed in sodium-orange streetlamp glow and the cool blue of overcast dawns. Much of the action unfolds inside a cramped taxi, where the camera settles into static, slightly off-kilter two-shots of a driver and his passengers, and the hum of the engine and distant traffic does most of the work. The score leans on sparse, unhurried piano and low synth pulses that drop out entirely at key beats, so silence feels like part of the mystery. The vibe is dry, melancholy and quietly strange, with flashes of deadpan humor that rarely break the mood, suited to a rainy weeknight, a late-evening watch alone, or a slow binge with the lights low. Pacing is deliberate and episodic, building a grounded unease around a missing girl and the small, half-glimpsed lives of the people who cross the driver's path, while his own guarded, slowly loosening character carries the emotional arc. Intensity is moderate: there is some crime and menace, a few brief, sharp moments of violence, and an undercurrent of dread rather than gore or graphic content. It is for viewers who enjoy character-driven noir atmosphere, odd tonal shifts, and mysteries that unfold through conversation rather than action.
