The story

After a young, middle-class couple moves into what seems like a typical suburban house, they become increasingly disturbed by a presence that may or may not be demonic, but is certainly the most active in the middle of the night.

What it’s like

Grainy handheld home-video footage shot on cheap cameras, mostly in a dim suburban bedroom and hallway lit by a single lamp or the blue-white glow of a night-vision camcorder. Long static shots sit on a fixed tripod angle for minutes at a time, so the stillness itself becomes the tension: a doorway, a made bed, a sleeping couple, all in flat digital murk. Sound is nearly everything here: creaks, thumps, a door swinging, the hum of the house at 3 a.m., with no score to tell you how to feel. The vibe is unsettled domestic dread, quiet and slow, building toward a few sudden jolts rather than constant scares. It suits a late night alone with the lights off, or a Halloween rewatch with friends who don't mind holding their breath. Intensity is low on gore and violence, with no on-screen blood and very little graphic harm, but fear is constant and sharp, and the tension is relentless. Viewers who want gentle viewing should look elsewhere. It is for people who enjoy slow-burn found-footage horror, where the frightening thing is what you don't quite see.
