The story
A bullied overweight teenager sees a glimpse of hope when her tormentors are brutally abducted by a mesmerizing stranger.
What it’s like
Sun-bleached and sweltering, with a hazy white-gold glare over dusty streets, a turquoise public pool, and the flat green of a shuttered village summer. The camera stays close and tight on its heroine, so faces and sweat fill the frame while the wider town feels watchful and airless. Cicadas, dripping water, and a restrained, unsettling score build a pressure that rarely eases. Pacing is slow and oppressive before it turns sharply brutal. In one orienting clause: a bullied, overweight teenager finds a dangerous glimmer of hope when her tormentors are taken by a magnetic outsider. Its intensity is high: bullying, abuse, kidnapping, torture, and bloody, on-screen violence that lands hard and often. It is not gentle. The emotional register is bleak, tense, and vengeful, with a grim sense of cruel justice and grief. It suits a late-night, alone viewing and fans of nasty, sun-drenched revenge horror who can handle sustained cruelty and graphic bloodshed.
