The story
65 million years ago, the only 2 survivors of a spaceship from Somaris that crash-landed on Earth, must fend off dinosaurs to reach the escape vessel in time before an imminent asteroid strike threatens to destroy the planet.
What it’s like
Washed-out daylight and humid, sun-bleached jungle dominate the look of this one, with hazy greens, dusty ochres and a crash-site glow that cuts through ash-grey skies. Its camera stays close and handheld when the pursuit starts, then pulls back to wide, empty shots of tangled forest and cracked riverbeds that make the characters look very small. The score leans on low, pulsing synth and sudden stings, with long stretches of wind, insects and crunching undergrowth carrying the silence between attacks. The vibe is tense, sweaty and stubbornly hopeful, a survival thriller with a tender undercurrent. Pacing is relentless in short bursts, with chases and creature set-pieces punctuated by quieter scenes of a reluctant pilot and a frightened child slowly learning to trust each other. Violence is frequent and sharp: dinosaur attacks with bloody wounds and some graphic deaths, plus peril, falls and creature horror, though there is little gore for its own sake and no sexual content. It suits a tense weekend night, or a viewer who wants a lean, fast creature feature with a warm father-daughter-style bond at its centre.
