The story

Lucy, a college student, along with her friends, spend their vacation at her family's home in Hawaii, which includes her pet chimpanzee, Ben. However, when Ben contracts rabies after being bitten by a rabid animal, the group must fight for their lives in order to avoid the now-violent chimp.

What it’s like

Bright, sun-bleached daylight gives way to dread in a family house above the Hawaiian coast, where a pool glitters, the greenery hangs heavy, and the heat seems to press on every frame. Much of the picture plays in open rooms and wide exteriors, so the threat feels exposed and hard to hide from, with tight handheld moments when the chase closes in. The sound design leans on ambient tropical noise, creaking wood and sudden animal shrieks that cut through the calm. The mood is sun-warmed unease that tips into panic, with a pace that stays taut and relentless once trouble starts. Intensity is high: frequent, graphic violence and gore, including animal attacks, with real physical brutality and a constant sense of danger. Not gentle or low-stakes. It suits a late-night watch with the lights on, or a summer-horror craving. It is for viewers who want survival horror with a tropical sting, bloody set pieces, and no reprieve.
