The story

A young undercover FBI agent infiltrates a gang of thieves who share a common interest in extreme sports. A remake of the 1991 film, "Point Break".

What it’s like

Bright, saturated daylight and wide-angle aerial shots of waves, cliffs and open sky give this film a glossy digital sheen, with the camera often hurtling alongside surfers, skydivers and wingsuit flyers in fast, kinetic cuts. The palette runs from sun-bleached blues and golds to the cooler steel of city bank interiors, and the sound is driven by a loud, propulsive rock-and-electronic score over roaring surf and rushing wind. Its vibe is high-octane and sun-drenched, the kind of watch for a weekend afternoon or a long-haul flight when you want spectacle without much thinking. Pacing is brisk and relentless, with stunt sequences punctuating a simple undercover story in which a young agent is drawn into a close-knit crew and wrestles with loyalty. Violence is moderate: there are fistfights, shootouts and a few tense crashes, with some bloodied faces and peril, but no gore. It suits viewers who want big-screen adrenaline and striking landscapes more than character depth or subtlety.
