The story

A troupe of ballerinas find themselves fighting for survival as they attempt to escape from a remote inn after their bus breaks down on the way to a dance competition.

What it’s like

Stranded in a remote inn, a troupe of dancers turns the discipline of rehearsal into a sharp, physical kind of survival, with the rhythm of ballet carried into fights and escapes. The vibe is taut and cold, a night-in-the-woods thriller with isolated rooms, dim corridors, and a pervasive sense of dread that builds more than it bursts. Expect pacing that alternates tense stillness with bursts of kinetic action, and a score that leans on pulsing, percussive tension. The emotional register is admiring of the performers' strength and solidarity, and the arcs follow young women discovering what their bodies and bonds can withstand. Violence is central and the fight-for-survival stakes are unrelenting, with horror-tinged menace throughout, so it won't suit anyone seeking something gentle. Best for viewers who enjoy genre thrillers with a movement-driven edge, dance-film fans curious about the darker side of the ballet world, and people wanting high-tension company on a late, unsettled night.
