The story

The people of Arcadia, Missouri are forever changed when their deceased loved ones suddenly start to reappear.

What it’s like

Muted, overcast Missouri daylight over small-town streets, with long still shots of kitchens, porches and quiet cul-de-sacs that let ordinary rooms feel slightly off-kilter. The palette runs to washed greens, greys and faded browns, with warm interiors that look lived-in rather than glossy. Sound is restrained: sparse piano and low, sustained strings under long stretches of ambient room tone, with the hush of wind and distant traffic doing much of the work. The pacing is slow and deliberate, built around conversation and small domestic gestures, and the tension is one of unease and grief rather than action. Its drama comes from families stunned into an uneasy reunion, and from a town slowly unsettled by what it cannot explain. Emotionally it sits in a melancholy, watchful register, with a few sharp moments of disquiet. Violence is rare and mostly offscreen, with some tense confrontations and scattered brief, unsettling moments but no gore. Best suited to viewers who enjoy patient, character-led mystery and quiet, mournful sci-fi, and to a slow evening alone.
