The story
A nurse mistakes a stranger who pays her a visit for her blind date and soon, the man rapes her and turns her life upside down. The woman works to reclaim her life and exact revenge on her assailant after he's paroled from prison.
What it’s like
Restrained, unsettled thriller mood, built on dread and a slow turn toward control. The synopsis points to an ordinary, everyday world: a hospital nurse's routine, a blind date gone wrong, a prison visit, and the long wait for parole. The register is tense and cold rather than lush, with the story's weight carried by performance and suspense more than by spectacle. Pacing is measured, with quiet stretches that let the unease build before the story shifts into a revenge arc. This is not gentle viewing. It includes rape and sexual violence, depicted directly enough to land hard, and the emotional aftermath is central. The woman's arc moves from shock and loss of agency toward deliberate, grim resolve. It suits a late evening when you are ready for something heavy and intense, not a comfort watch or background viewing. It is for viewers who want a dark, character-driven thriller about survival and retribution, with Rosamund Pike and Nick Nolte anchoring a story that refuses easy consolation.
