The story

Two veteran New York City detectives work to identify the possible connection between a recent murder and a case they believe they solved years ago; is there a serial killer on the loose, and did they perhaps put the wrong person behind bars?

What it’s like

Gritty, rain-slicked New York in cold, desaturated tones: sodium streetlight, dim squad rooms lit by harsh overhead fluorescents, and interrogation rooms with flat, unflattering light that makes every face look tired. The camera stays close and handheld in tense conversations, cutting between shadowed apartments, precinct corridors and nighttime streets with a restless, documentary-like unease. The score leans on low synth pulses and brooding strings, with long stretches of city hum and rain doing much of the work. Vibe: bleak, weary, sun-starved noir with a sour edge, best suited to a late night alone or a wet weekend when you want something heavy and moody. The pacing is steady and procedural, with the emotional weight landing in quiet scenes of two aging men confronting their own compromises and the damage of years on the job. Violence is frequent and often brutal, with shootings and graphic murder scenes, plus strong language, drug use and an undercurrent of cruelty and corruption; little of it is gentle. Made for viewers who like crime dramas that linger on moral decay, aging professionals and a grim, uncompromising atmosphere.
