The story

When an evil spirit known as Pitch lays down the gauntlet to take over the world, the immortal Guardians must join forces for the first time to protect the hopes, beliefs and imagination of children all over the world.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated animation with glowing snowfall, frost-blue nights and sweeping aerial shots over sleeping rooftops, the kind of wintry fantasy where magic sparkles off every surface. Its vibe is big-hearted and playful with a shadowy streak: a sparkling holiday adventure that gets moody when the villain's dark mist creeps across the city. Pacing is brisk and kinetic, with flying sequences, snowball skirmishes and a whimsical score swelling into orchestral warmth, though quieter moments let the characters breathe. The emotional register is earnest and affectionate, following a group of folkloric legends who are each a bit lonely and gradually learn to trust one another, and a restless newcomer who wants to be seen. Intensity is mild: some peril, a few scary shadow sequences and cartoon scuffles, but no gore and little real menace for older kids. It suits a snowy weekend with the family, a comfort watch on a cold evening, or anyone wanting a cheerful, imaginative escape for all ages.
