The story

Ex-UFC fighter Dalton takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse, only to discover that this paradise is not all it seems.

What it’s like

Sun-bleached and glossy, with saturated turquoise water, pastel bar signage, and warm golden-hour light spilling over docks and palm fronds. Doug Liman shoots the Keys like a postcard that has been left in a hot car too long: bright, slightly over-lit, with handheld camera work that jostles during the brawls and wide establishing shots that let the humidity sit on the screen. Fight scenes are loud and kinetic, with thudding impacts and a pulsing rock-and-country score that drops out for the occasional quiet beat on the water. The vibe is breezy, tongue-in-cheek escapism, a remake that knows its own pulpiness and leans into it. It suits a lazy weekend afternoon, a beer-and-pizza movie night, or a comfort rewatch with friends. The violence is frequent and bloody, with brutal cage-style fights, shootings, and a few gory moments, though the tone stays playful and jokey rather than grim. The sensibility is mostly exuberant rather than sexual, with brief flirtation and no explicit content. It is for people who want a fun, stylish action flick with a sense of humour and a sunny, sweaty setting.
