The story

An LA vampire hunter has a week to come up with the cash to pay for his kid's tuition and braces. Trying to make a living these days just might kill him.

What it’s like

Sunlit Southern California suburbs give way to sodium-orange streets and deep blue night, with the palette leaning on sun-bleached daytime beige, pool-blue and sickly neon at night. The camera stays kinetic and handheld for its brawls, and the framing is wide and slick, so every chase and set piece reads clearly across the whole frame. Sound is loud and bouncy: hard-rock and hip-hop cues, gunfire, the squelch of gore, and crisp comic timing in the dialogue. Its vibe is brash, cheeky and buddy-comedy loose, the kind of Friday-night watch for a drive-in-style pizza night or a lazy weekend with friends. The pacing is brisk and escalating, with a reluctant, long-suffering hunter and his wisecracking partner sharpening into a grudging, affectionate team. The violence is frequent, bloody and cartoonishly graphic, with vampire fights that spray gore and bone-crunching hits, plus strong profanity and some sexual innuendo. It's a rowdy pick for action-comedy and horror fans who want fun over fear, not for anyone seeking gentle or low-intensity viewing.
