The story

Following the exciting story of the world's oldest sharpshooters Chandro and Prakashi Tomar, the drama marks the directorial debut of acclaimed scriptwriter Tushar Hiranandani. The film stars Bhumi Pednekar and Taapsee Pannu.

What it’s like

Bright, sun-washed village courtyards, bustling lanes of Uttar Pradesh, and the flat green and ochre of rural Indian fields give this film an open, lived-in look, with warm daylight and bold, saturated colour in the saris, bangles and wall paintings. The camera stays close and playful, with quick cuts for comic beats and steady framing when the women are practising with their rifles on the range. The score leans on bright dhol-driven pop and light Bollywood melody, so the mood is buoyant and easy to follow. The vibe is warm, cheeky and uplifting, a good fit for a Sunday afternoon, a family viewing or a lighthearted pick-me-up. Its arc follows two older women who take up sport late in life and grow in confidence, with the humour carrying much of the emotional weight. Intensity is very low: there is a little rough language and some ribbing about age and marriage, but no violence beyond target shooting and no gore or sexual content. It suits viewers who want something gentle, funny and hopeful, especially those who enjoy underdog stories about women finding their voice.
