Indarjeet Singh, a ragged prince who has lost everything but his pride, pledges to get back his familys respect which was once destroyed by Adityas ancestors. Ranjana is a modern ambitious girl who is madly in love with Indarjeet Singh. The story takes a new turn when Aditya falls in love with Ranjana and forces Birendra her father, for their marriage. In this game of live chess between Saheb, Biwi and Gangster, the winner, the survivor takes it all.
What it’s like
Dusty, sun-bleached palette of ochre and faded marigold, with decaying havelis, candlelit drawing rooms and smoky, lamp-lit bars that glow amber against the dark. Scenes are staged with a theatrical stillness, long takes inside ornate rooms where characters trade barbed lines, then sudden bursts of camera movement when the gunfire starts. The sound mixes Hindi film songs, sitar-tinged cues and sharp silences that stretch the tension. The vibe is sardonic, decadent and wry, with a bruised melancholy beneath the swagger, the mood of a late evening with a drink in hand. Pacing is deliberate and talky, with bursts of action; emotional arcs follow proud, damaged people who are reckless with power, love and drink. Intensity is moderate to high: several shootings and fight scenes with some blood, frequent drinking, and suggestive sexual content and sensual tension, though nothing graphic. Not gentle, and not for anyone wanting calm. Best for viewers who enjoy stylish Bollywood-noir, sharp performances and morally compromised characters, watched late at night.
