The story
A tight-knit team of FBI investigators, along with their District Attorney supervisor, is suddenly torn apart when they discover that one of their own teenage daughters has been brutally murdered.
What it’s like
Cool, muted palette with rain-darkened city streets, fluorescent office corridors, and dim, shadowed rooms that feel close and airless. The camera tends to hold on faces during quiet exchanges, and the score stays sparse and low, with tension building through silence rather than swells. The mood is grief-heavy and unsettled, a slow-burning dread that sits somewhere between noir and procedural, best suited to a late evening alone or a dark, quiet night in. The pacing is deliberate, jumping between past and present as a group of investigators, once close, is pulled apart by a crime that refuses to close, and the emotional arc follows obsession, guilt and the slow wearing down of people who have never let go. Violence is present and can be brutal, including a sudden, disturbing murder and some sexual violence referenced in the case, though it is not gory or constant. Not gentle. For viewers who want a serious, adult mystery with emotional weight and a bleak, unresolved ache.
