The story
A group of rebels travel the outskirts of space evading the sinister Alliance regime. Their lives of smuggling and cargo-running are interrupted by a psychic passenger who harbours a dangerous secret. Soon, the crew find themselves being pursued by an Alliance agent who will stop at nothing to find them.
What it’s like
Dusty, sun-bleached frontier textures meet cold industrial sheen in this space western: wide shots of scrubbed rust-brown planets and cramped, warmly lit ship interiors where amber practical lamps glow against steel bulkheads. The camera stays close and handheld during fights, with quick cuts and clean, legible choreography, then pulls back to let landscapes breathe. Score is brassy and western-inflected, with fiddle and drum swells under the action and quieter strings in the tender beats. The mood is scrappy, wry and affectionate, a warm ensemble bickering over cargo jobs before the story turns bleak. Pacing is brisk, with long stretches of banter between set-piece gunfights and chases. Violence is frequent and sometimes bloody, with gunfire, hand-to-hand brawling and a few gory deaths, plus a grim, unsettling sequence of cannibal menace; sexual content is minimal. It suits a Friday night with friends or a restless evening wanting adventure with heart. For viewers who enjoy ragtag found families, dry humour and a mid-budget sci-fi western with real stakes.
