The story

[The Dark Tower][1] VI Susannah, now pregnant, has yet another taking control of her. The demon-mother, Mia, uses Susannah and Black Thirteen to transport to New York City of 1999. Jake, Oy, and Pere Callahan must rescue Susannah while Eddie and Roland transport to the Maine of 1977. A vacant lot in New York is the prize that must be saved and ties these together. What it’s like

Dense, chatty King prose that switches between a New York of 1999 and a Maine of 1977, with a narrator who occasionally steps into the story and pauses to joke. The sensory world is grounded and grimy: Manhattan sidewalks, a chain-restaurant lunch, a vacant lot full of weeds and broken glass, and a rural Maine summer rendered in plain detail. Sound comes through in the small domestic noises and the murmured voices of a mismatched group, while the supernatural pressure builds quietly. The vibe is wry, anxious and companionable, with a steady undercurrent of dread that surfaces in sudden bursts. The pace is leisurely through long stretches of talk and wandering, then tightens into tense set pieces. Violence is present and sometimes sharp, with some gore and bodily horror tied to possession and a difficult pregnancy, though it is not constant. Sexual content is limited. The emotional register is loyal and affectionate, following friends who keep choosing each other while the stakes tighten. It suits readers who want a long, immersive, talky fantasy-horror to sink into over several evenings, and fans already invested in the wider saga.
