The story

In an alternate past, an unlikely duo team up to look for a missing catalog that could bring electricity to the smoke-filled streets of Kyoto.

What it’s like

Smoke-hazed streets at dusk, gaslit lanes, and the warm amber of lamps and workshop furnaces set against the cooler promise of electric light. The setting is an alternate Meiji-era Kyoto where steam machinery is everyday and electricity is still a rumor, so the look leans on brass, soot, wooden machine-shop interiors, and wide, hopeful skylines. Animated, with an earnest and romantic register, it has the buoyant, forward-leaning feel of a coming-of-age adventure: a mismatched pair of young people crossing the city on a search, trading banter and small tender moments along the way. Its vibe is wistful optimism with a steampunk edge, the kind of show that suits a slow weekend afternoon, a comfort rewatch, or an evening when you want something hopeful and character-driven. The pacing is likely episodic and warm, with the emotional arc centered on two people growing into their ambitions and on the friendship or attraction forming between them. Nothing in its description points to graphic violence or horror; its emphasis is on romance, invention, and chasing a dream. It is for viewers who enjoy historical-fantasy settings, inventive machinery, and gentle, hopeful stories about young people finding their place.
