The story
During the 1980s in India, a group of con artists rob businessmen and politicians by conducting fake raids, posing as officers of the CBI or Income Tax Department . They plan to execute their biggest con as a final job while a relentless cop is on their trail.
What it’s like
Crisp, lamp-lit interiors and sun-bleached 1980s Mumbai streets give this heist-thriller a warm, period-costume look, with fluorescent-bright government offices and dusty cars on open roads. The palette leans on ochre, cream and faded khaki, and the camera stays busy and kinetic, with quick cuts during the fake raids and wide, tense shots when the pursuing officer closes in. Sound is a mix of brisk orchestral-style cues, jangling suspense stings and crowd murmur, with long stretches of quiet talk when the schemers plan their next move. The vibe is playful yet taut: a caper driven by sharp banter, nerve and reversals, suited to a weekend evening with friends or a lively solo watch. Pacing is quick and punchy, and the tone stays light-hearted and clever even as the stakes rise, with the con-artist ringleaders' bravado set against a determined cop who refuses to let go. Violence is minimal, mostly brief scuffles and threats with no gore; sexual content is absent, and fear comes through tension rather than horror. It suits viewers who enjoy witty, twisty capers with a grounded period setting and a dose of moral ambiguity.
