The story
Unpleasant events disturb the life of an aspiring crime fiction writer when he becomes a resident of an apartment building teeming with shady neighbors.
What it’s like
Dim, claustrophobic interiors do most of the work here: a cramped apartment block with stairwells lit by flickering bulbs, cold fluorescent corridors, and rooms where the shadows seem to sit a little too close. The palette runs to muted greys, sickly greens and warm amber lamps against the dark, and the camera often stays tight on faces and doorways, so every neighbour feels like a possible threat. The score leans on low, unsettling drones and sudden stings. The vibe is paranoid and uneasy, a late-night thriller for watching alone with the lights on. Pacing is brisk and episodic, and the central figure's arc is a gradual unravelling as trauma and suspicion blur into hallucination. Intensity is high: fights are raw and physical, there are kidnapping sequences, and the psychological abuse lands hard. It is not gentle. It suits viewers who enjoy tense, character-driven crime stories with a fragile protagonist and who can handle grim, unsettling material.
