The story
Obsessed by the notion of fairy tale love , Titlie marries her beau Garv . Soon , the picture - perfect romance turns abusive , forcing her to wrestle with reality .
What it’s like
Dim, cramped interiors lit by bare bulbs, tube light and the slanted glow of streetlamps through grimy windows, with a handheld camera that stays close to faces and crowds the frame until rooms feel too small to breathe in. The palette is muted and earthy, with flat browns, greys and sickly yellows, and the sounds are dense: traffic, neighbours, household clatter, and sudden silences that sit heavily before something breaks. The mood is tense, bleak and claustrophobic, shading into dark, wry irony. It suits a late night alone when you want a stark, unsparing drama rather than comfort, or a long watch that asks for full attention. Pacing is patient and often oppressive, letting dread build through ordinary domestic moments before tipping into sharp, sudden eruptions. Its emotional arc follows a young woman's hope curdling into hard-won resolve. Intensity is high: domestic abuse and psychological cruelty are shown directly, with brief but harsh physical violence, and the sense of threat is constant. Not gentle. It is for viewers who want raw, socially grounded drama and can sit with discomfort.
