The story

Follow the lives of the Roy family as they contemplate their future once their aging father begins to step back from the media and entertainment conglomerate they control.

What it’s like

Restless handheld camera drifting through glass-walled offices, cold blue corporate light against warm wood-panelled Manhattan townhouses, and sun-bleached Hamptons lawns that look expensive and faintly threatening. The style is documentary-adjacent, with fast cuts, awkward zooms and characters who glance at each other mid-sentence, and the score is sparse and percussive, more tension than melody. The vibe is acerbic and anxious, a brittle satire with a bruised heart, best suited to a late evening with a drink, or a binge across several nights when you want something sharp and absorbing. Pacing is brisk and dialogue-heavy, with crackling overlapping speech that keeps the pressure high. Emotional register swings between cutting humour and real cruelty, and the central arc follows adult siblings who are damaged, competitive and needy, each slowly and painfully revealing what they want from a father who will not say. Intensity is moderate: strong profanity, sexual humiliation and verbal abuse, some drinking and drug use, a few sudden outbursts of physical violence, but no gore. For viewers who enjoy dark comedy, power-play drama and morally compromised characters they can't quite look away from.
