The story
The Capcom arcade classic receives a whole new look with Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. Capcom maintains the integrity of the popular game by utilizing the original game code while upgrading the graphics with new artwork and high resolution 1080p images -- all of the art, from character animation to stage backgrounds, will be completely redrawn by Udon Entertainment, the company responsible for the official US Street Fighter series of comics. Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix includes both online and offline competition for one to two players.
What it’s like
Crisp, hand-drawn sprites rendered in high-definition 1080p, with bold saturated palettes and every stage repainted in a comic-book sheen that sits between traditional ink work and bright arcade flat colour. Backdrops glow with sunset oranges, neon blues and dusky temple greens, and the animation stays faithful to the original's snappy frame-by-frame punch, kick and fireball motion, so each hit lands with a clean, weighty thwack. The soundtrack keeps the bouncing arcade synth and chiptune stabs, and the sound effects are sharp and percussive. It is a fast, energetic vibe for an hour of sparring between friends, a lunchtime bout, or a late session on a rainy night. Fights are quick and rhythmic, with rounds that snap between brief tense standoffs and explosive flurries of combos. The tone is playful and competitive rather than grim: combat is stylised martial arts with knockouts and no gore, and the mood stays cheerful, with characters that flash, grin and pose. Intensity is moderate, with cartoonish violence, no blood, and some shouting and trash talk in the rivalries. It suits fans of classic arcade fighters who want to play locally or online and enjoy a bright, polished makeover of a familiar classic.
