The story

An arcade version of Super Street Fighter IV was released by Capcom in December 2010, titled Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition. Arcade Edition added Yun, Yang, Evil Ryu and Oni to the roster, as well as changes to the existing characters.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated 2D sprites rendered in hand-inked cel-shaded style, with hard rim lighting and sweat and impact flashes that pop against stage backdrops of rain-slick Hong Kong rooftops, desert temples and neon-lit Tokyo streets. The soundtrack runs on driving guitar riffs, crowd murmur and crisp, punchy hit sounds that make every combo feel physical. Matches are fast and tightly paced, with rounds lasting a minute or two and a steady rhythm of tension, reversal and release, while the tone stays playful and competitive rather than grim. Stage intros and character taunts add flashes of showmanship between bouts. Violence is stylised and cartoonish: punches, kicks and fireballs with bursts of impact light and exaggerated knockouts, but no gore and no blood beyond occasional sparks. It suits a late-evening session alone, a weekend bout with friends, or anyone who wants the tactile satisfaction of learning a fighter's moves. It is built for players who enjoy mastery, rivalry and the thrill of landing a perfect combo.
