The story

Capcom Fighting Collection is a compilation of arcade versions of ten fighting games originally developed and published by Capcom. It adds new features to the original games such as online play with rollback netcode, training and spectator modes, save states, concept art, design documents, and a music player.

What it’s like

Crisp, pixel-faithful sprites of 1990s arcade fighters in their original 4:3 cabinet frames, with optional CRT scanlines and bezels that bring back the glow of a dim arcade corner. The palette is saturated and cartoonish: bright Street Fighter-style stages, crowded backdrops full of spectators and neon signs, and characters who snap into poses with bold, hand-drawn outlines. Sound is the sharp clatter of arcade sound effects, hits that ring out with punchy, chiptune-era stings, and a music player that lets you drift through the original soundtracks at your own pace. The rhythm is brisk and reactive, with short rounds that reward quick hands and repeated tries, and the collection's training mode and save states make it easy to linger over a single move. Its emotional register is playful and competitive, a warm nostalgic buzz rather than tension, and the bouts are cartoonish: punches, kicks and throws with exaggerated impact but no gore. It suits a shared couch on a weekend afternoon, a retro comfort session, or a friendly rivalry over online matches, and it is built for players who love the history of fighting games and want to study or simply replay the classics.
