The story
When Aurangzeb recruits his trusted soldier Udaybhan to control the Kondhana fort, Shivaji's military leader Tanhaji Malusare and his army of Maratha warriors set out to recapture the fortress.
What it’s like
Sweeping, saturated period spectacle: sun-bleached Deccan hills under hard midday light, ochre and deep saffron costumes, and night fortress scenes lit by smoky torches and oil lamps that turn stone walls amber and black. Wide aerial shots of armies on the march give way to tight, kinetic handheld work in the fighting, with slow-motion pulses on the big blows. The score is loud and percussive, built on drums, brass, and rising war chants, with quieter strings for the grief-heavy beats. Vibe: heroic, bombastic, earnest, with a tender undercurrent of loyalty and loss. It suits a Friday night on a big screen, or a rousing weekend watch with company. Pacing is brisk and escalating, with action sequences sustained for long stretches. Violence is frequent and bloody: prolonged swordfights, stabbings, and battlefield carnage, with some graphic wounds and deaths, though not sustained gore. Emotionally it is patriotic and uplifting, its arcs centred on a veteran commander's devotion to his king and his family. Made for people who want sweeping historical action with big emotional stakes and do not mind a loud, unapologetically stirring tone.
