The story
While visiting a Christmas market in her Norwegian town, eight year old Mariann spots a talking teddy bear at a carnival game booth. However, when someone else wins it, she embarks on a quest to find the adorable bear that captured her heart.
What it’s like
Set against a winter Christmas market in a small Norwegian town, this family fantasy has the glow of the season: string lights, cold air, and the bright, slightly crowded warmth of a fair. Its central figure is a child's-eye view of wonder, a talking teddy bear won and lost at a carnival booth, so the mood leans toward gentle magical curiosity rather than suspense. The pace should suit a family afternoon or a holiday evening, with a plain, forward-moving quest that keeps the focus on a determined young girl and the people who help her. Its emotional register is warm, earnest and hopeful, with the affection of a childhood Christmas rather than darker undertones. Intensity should be low: the premise is a search rather than a threat, and it reads as suitable for young children and the adults watching with them. It is for families and anyone wanting a cozy, uncomplicated holiday film with a touch of fairy-tale whimsy.
