The story
After the early death of his wife, a mourning father moves with his teenage son across the country for a private school teaching job. Their lives begin to transform due to two unique women, who help them embrace life and love again
What it’s like
Gentle, grounded and emotionally direct, this is a warm comedy-drama about grief softened by ordinary days. The mood is tender and wry, with a quiet melancholy that gives way to small moments of lightness, suited to a rainy Sunday or a comfort watch when you want something humane without much edge. The pacing is unhurried, built around everyday routines, school corridors, and conversations between a father and son who are learning to talk to each other again. Its emotional arcs follow two people slowly reopening to the world, with humour and romance easing the sorrow rather than cancelling it. Intensity is low: the story is about loss and recovery rather than danger, with no graphic or sustained violence, and romance stays gentle. It is for viewers who want a sincere, sentimental film about family, second chances and getting back up after a hard loss.
