The story

When three college students move into an old house off campus, they unwittingly unleash a supernatural entity known as The Bye Bye Man, who comes to prey upon them once they discover his name. The friends must try to save each other, all the while keeping The Bye Bye Man's existence a secret to save others from the same deadly fate.

What it’s like

Cold, desaturated autumn light over flat Midwestern landscapes, with bare trees and grey skies, gives way to dim, lamplit interiors where shadows pool in the corners of old rooms. Much of the dread comes from a figure in a dark hood lingering at the edge of the frame, often just out of focus, so the eye keeps searching the background. The score leans on low, droning synth and long stretches of near silence, broken by sudden sharp stings. Pacing is brisk and jumpy, built on repeated scares and escalating unease rather than slow atmosphere. Violence and deaths occur, some abrupt and offscreen, but the gore stays restrained and the horror lands as fear rather than explicit brutality. The mood is paranoid and unsettling, with friends pressed into secrecy and mounting panic. It suits a dark night watch with the lights low, for viewers who enjoy supernatural thrillers with creeping menace, urban-legend unease and a young-adult cast, and who want scares without graphic gore.
