The story

A new kind of detective game that allows you to think and investigate freely. Discover clues surrounding 12 strange and gruesome deaths and build your own theory. Pick your suspect, deduce the motive, unmask the awful truth.

What it’s like

Stark black-and-white scenes with flashes of gold, drawn as flat, storybook-like tableaux that feel like case files laid out under a desk lamp. The palette stays cold and papery, and the gold accents draw the eye to clues and small wrongnesses in each room. Pacing is unhurried and self-directed: you wander the scenes at your own speed, reading documents and notes, with quiet ambient tones and the odd sharp sting of music when something turns. Its tone is dark and cerebral, a slow-burn unease that builds as the threads tangle, with the occasional wry remark from the investigator's own narration. The deaths are gruesome, but they are shown as grim aftermath stills and described through evidence rather than dwelt on in graphic detail, so the dread comes from the puzzle of who did it and why. The violence is fatal and macabre but not sexual, and there is no action or chase to speak of. It suits a long, rainy evening alone, or anyone who likes to sit with a case and reason it out, for people who enjoy mystery, deduction and a bleak, noir-tinged atmosphere.
