The story
The origin behind the iconic hotel-for-assassins through the eyes and actions of a young Winston Scott, as he's dragged into the Hell-scape of 1970's New York City to face a past he thought he'd left behind. Winston charts a deadly course through the hotel's mysterious underworld in a harrowing attempt to seize the hotel where he will eventually take his future throne.
What it’s like
Gritty 1970s New York rendered in sodium-orange streetlight, rain-slick asphalt and the cold blue of early-morning fluorescents, with the Continental's gilded lobby glowing like a warm island in the grime. The camera is restless and kinetic, often handheld in tight corridors and wide-angle fight staging, while stylized slow-motion and saturated color pops punctuate the brawls. The score leans on period soul, funk and synth pulses that keep the momentum driving. Violence is frequent and stylized, with gunfights, close-quarters brawls and bloody beatings, plus some sexual content and strong language; it is intense and bloody, though the gore is more choreographed than graphic. The overall vibe is sleek, grimy and pulpy, a hard-edged crime world with flashes of dry wit. It suits a late-night binge with the lights off or a sprawling weekend watch, and it fits viewers who enjoy action-heavy neo-noir with stylish world-building and a wry, hungry protagonist finding his place in a dangerous underworld.
