The story

The fearless one-eyed weasel Buck teams up with mischievous possum brothers Crash & Eddie as they head off on a new adventure into Buck's home: The Dinosaur World.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated 3D animation with the soft, rounded look of a children's cartoon: glossy fur, bright snowfields under a clean pale sky, and the lush greens and oranges of a prehistoric jungle full of oversized foliage. The camera moves briskly, with fast tracking shots and quick cuts during chases, and the framing stays busy and readable for young eyes. The sound is a bouncy orchestral score with plenty of slapstick percussion, punctuated by cartoon bleeps and roars. The vibe is goofy, sunny and easygoing, a good fit for a family afternoon or a light weekend watch with kids. Pacing is brisk and episodic, and the emotional register stays warm and playful, centred on a mismatched trio of animal buddies who bicker, bumble and grow fond of each other. Intensity is low: cartoon peril and comic falls, with no gore, no sexual content, and only mild, quickly resolved scares involving dinosaurs. It is made for young children and the adults who watch alongside them, and for anyone wanting gentle, high-energy comedy.
