The story

The Legend of Zelda: Second Wind is a fan expansion/mod of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This expansion adds new maps, new enemies, armor, weapons and game mechanics to the original game.

What it’s like

Sun-washed open fields, painterly skies and soft, rounded character shapes in the same bright, unhurried style as the Breath of the Wild engine it builds on. Light shifts slowly from morning haze to amber dusk, and the soundtrack leans on gentle, wind-brushed ambience, birdsong and sparse folk-tinged melodies that swell during fights and fall back to near silence while you ride across open country. The pace is self-directed and roaming: you wander, climb, cook and stumble onto new ground, with long stretches of quiet travel between skirmishes. Its added regions, enemies and gear extend that same exploratory calm rather than changing its character. Combat is fantasy action against stylised monsters, with cartoonish rather than graphic violence and no gore; fear is mild and tension comes from timing and resource management. The mood is warm, curious and low-pressure, with a sense of discovery that suits a slow weekend afternoon, a long train ride or evenings spent wandering with no particular goal. It is for players who love open-world exploration and want more of Hyrule to get lost in.
