The story

Fuutarou Uesugi is a poor, antisocial ace student who one day meets the rich transfer student Itsuki Nakano. They argue but when Uesugi realizes he is to be her tutor, he tries to get on better terms. While trying to do so he meets four other girls.

What it’s like

Bright, clean anime frames with sunlit school corridors, cream-and-pastel interiors, and warm afternoon light through classroom windows, all rendered in crisp digital colour. Expressive comic faces and quick cutaway gags break up the calm, and the score is light, bouncy piano and strings that swells into sweet, earnest moments. A poor, prickly student takes a tutoring job for a wealthy transfer student and finds himself among her four identical-looking sisters. The vibe is warm, bubbly and gently teasing, the kind of show that suits a comfort rewatch, a lazy evening, or something playing while you fold laundry. Episodes move briskly through banter, misunderstandings and small kindnesses, with a slow, steady build toward affection. Its emotional register is light and sincere, and its central arc is a guarded young man gradually opening up to the people around him. Intensity is low: no violence or gore, only mild fear-of-embarrassment slapstick, and some romantic tension, with occasional suggestive situations played for laughs. It is for viewers who want charming, low-stakes romance with plenty of humour and an affectionate heart.
