The story

When everyone else mysteriously vanishes from their wealthy town, the teen residents of West Ham must forge their own society to survive.

What it’s like

Bright, manicured daylight over a wealthy suburban town, with immaculate lawns, glossy digital colour and empty streets that feel wrong the longer you look at them. The unease comes from how ordinary everything still appears, so the sunlit calm keeps curdling into dread. The score leans on tense, pulsing synth textures that surface between quieter stretches of teenage bickering and whispered planning. The pace is brisk and episodic, with cliffhanger turns that make it easy to binge in long evening sittings. Its tone is dark and anxious, a mix of survival tension, suspicion and grief, and its young characters slowly harden and reveal sides of themselves they'd rather hide. Violence and murder appear regularly, with some bloody moments and a steady threat of peril, plus teenage sexuality and drinking; the horror rests on menace and betrayal more than on gore. It suits a late-night, alone-on-the-sofa viewing for people who enjoy high-concept mystery, teen ensemble drama and a trapped-community atmosphere, and it is not a fit for anyone seeking something gentle.
