The story
Titanfall 2 is a first-person shooter with both a single-player campaign and competitive multiplayer. The campaign follows a Militia rifleman who bonds with a Titan, a large bipedal mech, after his pilot is killed. Gameplay combines fast-paced infantry movement, including wall-running and double-jumping, with sections where the player controls the Titan in combat. Multiplayer features team-based modes with players fighting as both Pilots and Titans on the same battlefield.
What it’s like
Bright, sun-scorched industrial vistas and sleek sci-fi interiors, with clean hard-edged geometry, saturated orange sunsets over alien terrain, and cool blue-white corridor light that flares to sparks and muzzle bloom in the heat of combat. The art direction leans on crisp, readable silhouettes and a polished digital sheen rather than grit, and the soundscape is full and punchy: bass-heavy mech footfalls, crackling energy weapons, and a propulsive, synth-tinged score that drops out for quieter, reflective passages between firefights. Its vibe is kinetic and buoyant, with a warm, tender undercurrent in the bond between soldier and machine. It suits an evening of focused play, a weekend session with headphones on, or a stretch of restless energy when you want momentum to carry you. Pacing is brisk and rhythmic, alternating frantic traversal, wall-running and double-jumping through corridors with heavy, lumbering Titan sequences that feel like weighty set pieces. The emotional register stays earnest and heroic, following a lonely young soldier who slowly learns to trust a machine that becomes a true partner. Violence is frequent and stylised: gunfire, explosions and robot destruction, with blood-free impacts and no gore. It is for players who want fluid, empowering action with a sincere, friendly heart.
