The story
The untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, better known as sworn enemies, but once were friends bonded like brothers who changed the fate of Cybertron forever.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated 3D animation with a glossy, toy-box sheen: chrome surfaces catch hot light off alien mines, bronze-and-cobalt skies glow over Cybertron's cavernous industrial cities, and the camera swoops through kinetic action with the energy of a comic book come to life. Sound leans on bombastic orchestral swells and driving percussion, punctuated by mechanical clangs and the crackle of energy weapons, with a sly comic streak in the banter. The mood is buoyant and boyish, a warm buddy-movie adventure about two scrappy outsiders who bond like brothers before fate pulls them apart, so the emotional beats land as wistful rather than heavy. Pacing is brisk and rarely still, moving from playful bonding scenes into large-scale set pieces and back. Intensity is moderate: frequent robot combat and explosions, with sci-fi peril and some tense chases, but no gore and little real menace, so it reads as family-friendly spectacle. Suited to a lively weekend movie, a kids' or family night, or anyone wanting big colourful action with an affectionate, nostalgic heart.
